What is the Root Chakra?
The root chakra, also called Muladhara, is the first of the seven main chakras. Located at the base of the spine, it relates to your most primal needs: survival, safety, grounding, family ties, and belonging.
Its color is red, its element is earth, and it governs the basic right to “be here and have what I need.” When balanced, we feel present, confident, supported, and courageous enough to move forward.

You don’t need to change everything at once. Sometimes, it’s the repetition of small, meaningful actions that rebuilds your inner foundation.
- Create a simple, comforting routine — especially morning and night
- Eat natural red-colored foods (like beets, strawberries, red apples)
- Take mindful walks or stand barefoot on the earth
- Use essential oils like patchouli, vetiver, or cedarwood
- Repeat affirmations like: “I am safe. I belong. I trust life.”
- Practice grounding meditations or yoga poses for stability
